Today we will be reviewing the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10. This is Lenovo’s latest range of budget android tablets. This is the 10″ version of the device, but there is also an 8″ version of the Yoga Tablet.

So lets take a look around the Lenovo Yoga tablet 10. On the front of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 is that 10.1″ screen, a front-facing camera up top and two speakers on the left edge of the device. On the right edge of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 there is a 3.5mm headphone jack and the volume rocker buttons, both embedded into a machined aluminum frame. The top edge has nothing on it. The left edge has the circular power button and the micro usb charging port. The bottom edge of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 has a unique cylindrical shape and on the rear face of this cylinder is the 5mp rear facing camera and the hinge for the recessed kick stand. There is a micro sd card slot under the kickstand so you can expand the device’s memory upto an extra 64gb. The rear face of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 seems to be made of plastic and is textured to look like machined steel.

Now Lenovo definitely deserves credit for rethinking the form factor of the Yoga tablet 10. The kickstand makes it easy to stand the device upright without holding the Yoga Tablet 10 or raise the device slightly when you need to type on a flat surface. The cylindrical shape of the bottom edge also makes it easier to hold. However, the tablet is a bit on the heavier side and holding the device for longer periods of time might be uncomfortable. Another thing we noticed was that the device is not very stable on uneven surfaces like couches or your lap, if the kickstand is at any other angle other than fully extended.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10’s screen is not full HD and the quality is decent. The images are sharp but the colors are not very well rendered. And the poorer screen quality of the Yoga Tablet 10 is rather apparent when compared to more high-end tablets like the new iPad Air. However, the tablet’s display does have some very good screen viewing angles. The screen is also very smooth and responsive to touch as you can see in this little test.

The web browsing experience on the Lenovo Yoga tablet 10 is also pretty good. Web pages load up reasonably fast, scrolling down pages is very smooth but pinch to zoom did have some noticeable choppiness.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 handled Full HD video from youtube really well. The images were sharp, the playback was smooth and the sound quality was very good, as you’ll see in this test. Now, we’ve set the device’s volume to 100% so you can hear how it sounds.

During our review of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10, Video playback from web streaming services like Netflix was only very good as you’ll see in this short clip.

The 3-D intensive gaming experience was also surprisingly good. The device did not drop any frames and was reasonably responsive to input. However, the device’s unique shape does make it bit uncomfortable to use as a gaming device.

The 5MP rear-facing camera is pretty awful and we don’t recommend using the device to take pictures. However, the 1.6MP front-facing camera is slightly better and is helpful for web chats.

The battery life on the device was pretty decent but might not give you the 18 hours of battery life that Lenovo advertises.The Wifi signal was also very strong and reliable.

So overall the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 is a well-designed tablet that lacks the speed and performance of its pricier competitors.
