I wanted to check out what Linux has to offer for photo and video editing. I’ve had bad experiences dual booting in the past, so I wanted a stand alone machine. I found this computer on eBay for less than $170 shipped.
Make sure to look for machines that have 2 4gb sticks of RAM to make upgrading to 16gb affordable, should the need arise. Most of them have mechanical hard drives, which are loud. I’m going to replace mine with an SSD, which will improve performance and eliminate noise.
